For this assignment my partner and I wanted to do three different types of scenes In about three different of locations. So, we thought we could tackle it by doing one who scene first then moving on to the next one with like very little breaks but all work we had done to make it way easier for us to shoot. For the first project we wanted to do like a little opening date to a relationship. For the second one we wanted to do me picking a book for a project. Finally, for the third one we wanted to a student who is getting tired from their day and wanted to get it over with. Our project out line was as follows. First, we scripted, then we made a story board, then we shot, then we made the edits while shooting, finally we edited in premier. We were able to follow our timeline. We did not rely on others to help we did it all ourselves. The only big challenged we faced was to find actors in the begging but then eventually we found some amazing ones. What I thought went well was that we got all the equipment fast and setup well. Also, all the settings were spot on the camera. There was no unforeseen circumstances that we had to fix and there was nothing I would have done differently. There was really only one thing that came up to my mind that the color was too dark for like one or two shots but we fixed it in the post production. In the post production there would be nothing I would do differently except maybe make a title page for each one and a closing out edit slide but besides that really nothing I would change.
Above Project 1
Project 2
For this assignment my partner and I decided talk about which person would be the right to get interviewed and how we would edit and for how long. This project some ideas we had were to write the questions down before we had the interview and to make sure that all the equipment worked before we used it. We decided to use the common room in ledges and to get all the curtains down so the room can be dark as possible so the lights would be the brightness they can be so we can use them. We were able to follow our timeline for our editing job and our actual shoot. We got all that we needed to get to make this interview good. One of the challenges that we had was the sound. The sound was a little hard to get the right sound in the right head phone we had to use. Another problem we had was finding an outlet that we had to use to plug the lights in, we only had two to use so we had to be creative. I really think our editing job on this project was good. To be honest I really do not think that we need to redo any shot we took. Here are some of the questions we asked our subject (What’s your name, and tell me a little bit about yourself, Growing up, what made you interested in journalism, Can you tell me about any awards you have won related to journalism?, What about Quinnipiac appealed to you as a journalist?, What is your favorite Communications class?, As someone who has heavily involved in high school, how have you been involved on campus at Quinnipiac? Have you joined any student media, You mentioned that you are interested in political journalism, have you written any articles about that?, Are you interested in QU in DC or QU in LA at all?, Who would be your choice audience? What stories do you want to share with the world
For this assignment my partner and I did a profile on her friend. We had her sit down in a chair in the middle of the room and we placed the camera on one side of her and we shot all of our angles from one side. For the close up we asked about three to six questions then we paused the camera to move to our next position. Then, our next shot was the medium shot for that we just zoomed out of our close up and we asked about the same number of questions about her major. Then for the final shot meaning the wide shot we made the camera zoom out all the way and made her on the left side of the camera. Then we asked her the final questions we had about her major. Then after that we took form the SD card and put the clips on a hard drive and put it into premiere pro.One of the biggest things is that was a challenge that for we couldn’t get a chance to finish editing before the spring break. We were planning to do some after spring break but then suddenly boom the coronavirus happened and we weren’t allowed to go back to school so we couldn’t finish editing so we had to do it from home. I think it came out pretty well, the only other problem we had is that we couldn’t get enough B roll so we had to fill some of the places we were going to have some with text boxes. But everything else was good and we had no other problems.
